The Reluctant Blogger

I was born contemplating, but writing is one of those things that help me get my thoughts into the outside world. This however is not the easiest of things for me. Speaking is another channel but worse, I mean, how do I find the right words to describe what I see so clearly in my mind.
It is a blessing that some times I do come across some people whose writing puts in a far more eloquent way, some of the things I've got stuck inside and I'm extremely grateful for them.

Read It.

Lookey what I found!

Yeah!! luckily I work in one of the best areas in LDN. Walking around and exploring the area, I discovered a lot of vintage clothing stores, music stores, book stores with lots and lots and lots of items at very cheap prices. This particular store I went to has lots of comics and manga, I was looking for a health store actually when I wandered into this one. Didn't buy anything but I was amazed. I surely will be going back there as I build up my book/manga/comic collection :D

ooh ooh, Happy July!!

My book of hugs

So, I've found this great area, with lots of books, yes! I still have my challenge to read 100 books this year, but I've only made it up to 10! and I average about 5 books at the time. The last book I bought ^^. It was just so cute, and it reminded me of someone, an ex-roommate.lol. Anyways, I do hope I manage to get to atleast half of my challenge. The book I'm presently reading, Ugly by Constance Briscoe is just amazing, heart-breaking and thought-provoking, everyone needs to read it, especially that its based on real events.

Books that must be read Pt 2

This is filled with so much revelation, you will be wondering why you never read it earlier!
please pick up a copy while you can. I only just started reading it and I don't want it to end.

John Stott used to be a leader under a number of posts at the church I currently attend. I didn't even know this until I googled reviews for the book. Awesome! this man is what we call a teacher. This book is one every Christian needs to read with immediate effect. I am still reading it also, it is profound.

1111

I wanted to write something really profound about New Year celebrations, maybe I still would but for now, I will recommend two books that touched me life so far. You don't have to be religious or a Christian to read them, they just deserve an open mind. They aren't exhaustive but do paint a great picture. Enjoy.

Books that must be Read pt.1

There are two books, you must read before this year runs out, very influential, for me. I would write summaries when I have the time. These books are the thinking man's kind of books. If you don't want to think please don't bother picking them up, go to your local bookstore and search for Nora Roberts, or something like that

Mere Christianity by C.S.Lewis

Unforgettable

I love descriptive novels, because it makes me escape into the writing even more. Its usually like I am watching a video in my head.

I read this book when I was about 10,11 I think. Yeah, I read lots of books that age, I really had no business reading. But I loved this book.

I have always been intrigued by America's history and everything that surrounds it. The ins and outs of the people, how much they were interwoven. The story deals with several families living in the Chesapeake Bay area, from 1583 to 1978. A large book.

There is so much I could speak about, but the setting in Chesapeake bay was so descriptive, I had dreams of living in that time, I got my atlas ..(no google maps then) Looked for the location and began to just envision all I was reading. It was an amazing book to read.

I experienced a wide range of emotions, happiness, laughter, I cried sometimes. It covered a whole range of topics as humanity allows, but I understood it all.

I want to read this book again.

Follow me, I Follow you.

It all started with Susan Blackmoore and her book, The Meme machine...then I watched her presentation on TED. I made notes on the book because it raised very interesting points. things that had never crossed my mind before...i love books like that. But no I didn't buy into all that was said, however something struck me. The propensity of Humans to Imitate and the Theory of the Memes it is indeed a strange thing i thought, we are the only creatures that imitate ourselves...even with the mega intelligent brain we have. What really is stopping us from harnessing this energy. Some say it is Adam's curse...

I also had a discussion with my Thesis supervisor when he was still my DE Context lecturer. We had been walking to the studio after a lecture at the Design School. The question that arose between us was..If Everyone had the tool wouldn't it be chaotic, i leaned towards Yes, at the point but now i'm sure. Yes, it could be chaotic, but it is easily avoided and yes also, Everyone has the tool. Everybody can innovate, Everybody can be Creative. Everyone can design something. Raw Energy is chaotic and if it isnt harnesseed and put through proper channels there in lies the danger.

I believe we need to wake up, take charge of our consciousness, return to subjectivity, Question things more often. I overheard one of my coursemates yesterday say 'Why do i like what i like?' it was really strange hearing that and i smiled, because i'd been reading a blog http://youarenotsosmart.com just a day before and had read such.

We need to let go and return to ourselves.

March, Soldier On...

I'm so grateful for everything i am, i have. I wonder why it takes certain events to put things in perspective for us. You realise there are really more important things to live for.

Friday was chill, tried to shake the gloomy feeling i had, just relaxing and thinking of nothing but breathing in and out. Friday was my sisters birthday, and i wished her all the best life could offer, couldnt help but laugh at the last converstaion we had, She is a crazy one. I read 'Catcher in the Rye' and listened to ballads, from Leona Lewis to Celine Dion. Was supposed to go out to the 'Empress' just didnt feel like seeing humans, really.

Saturday was domesticated and couldn't hang out cause my friend was nursing a massive hangover..

Sunday, well, church, went grocery shopping, was in the mood for some cooking, set the chicken to boil with all the spices..hmm it smelled good, then it smelledwrong. Dashed into the kitchen to see the chicken burning, my morale burnt along with it and i couldnt think of cooking any thing again. Luckily (good to have friends who like to cook) i was invited to a dinner at sandyford, lol. it was all good, not a bad time out at all.

Churchianity (The Afro and the Dragon)

I was going to tweet my usual sunday rant, but my internet was out on Sunday, so I missed that, decided to blog it.

Hmm, i made the decision not to go to any "church" anymore, there's a lot I want to say, but I would limit this post to last two Sundays I went to "church"

The upper one, I choose the wrong seat and I try to tweet, the ushers are all over me, one of them, a really mean dude tried to seize my phone and call security.LMAO!
Ha! But my bible is on d phone, their Argument: we are in the presence of God, Mine: God is everywhere!
They finally leave me alone cause I tell them the phone is offline. The sermon,(comedy+motivational speak) not too bad.
I wasn't surprised when the 'bishop' said being 'churchy' would make you 'abound' and 'flourish' The only thing he failed to mention was how churchy Bill gates, Oprah and many more are.

The Last one, So I decided to go to church with my Afro, I got funny stares, almost jaw dropping ones. It also didn't help that I was wearing jeans and reading Paolini's Inheritance series. The really funny part was when the page with the illustration of the Dragon's eye which had already come out and was tucked within the pages of the book floated out. The people sitting close by me were quite startled. lol. I picked the page, tucked it back and continued reading my book jejely.

I really don't want to go there and do this, but its hard to listen to preaching that sounds like. .All i heard that day was 'Car, Car, Car. and Anointing for wealth'. if that isn't a load of rubbish, I dont know what is.

The more I see more of these church doctrines and programs, the more ridiculous it appears and I can't believe I once believed such things. I grew up happy as a 'Christian' child, but when innocence gets stripped off, some things beg for answers, answers these "churches" cannot provide or the brand of Christianity they proffer.

When I tell people I don't attend any "Church", they say they would pray for me, or that I need deliverance, whether jokingly or seriously , that just sums up Churchianity.
