Primary Four

1994 was a very memorable year for me, I can remember so many things that happened. From New Year celebrations to the end of year move to Primary Five! the new building, yay!

  • I celebrated my birthday at Apapa Club, I couldn't forget the way the Jollof rice was served, it was shaped like a hut.
  • My youngest sister and last born was born, She will be 20yrs old 5months from now.
  • I can't forget our move to LSDPC estate. It brought with it some fun times! but also grim times.
  • I can't forget having to cut my hair, my mum said since I had been 'chopping' it with my hand, it would be better to cut it all off. I think I may have shed a tear, but I was excited to see how I'd look.
  • After I cut it, I didn't think it was 'punk' enough and attempted to cut my hair using my mum's mirror as she slept in the room. The hot slap that followed shortly was enough to dispel every thought that exalted itself above the ones my mum had for me.
  • I can't forget being mistaken for a boy after that! lol
  • I can't forget having to chase a boy named Qudus, because he had stolen my money and gone to the barracks. I managed to catch him as he tried using my money to buy baba dudu.
  • I can't forget being lashed strokes of cane on my legs, because of something I can't remember but had to do with elementary science.
There was something we used to do called 'messing'. I was popular at it. We also used to call it 'yab' It wasn't meant to insult, its was mostly funny but the main idea was to deliver the best lines in a sort of duel. I was mighty good at it, for real!! I remember everything. Here are some of the 'yabs'

  • You mess, apple fly gate
  • You mess, kuli kuli tie wrapper
  • You mess, seven akara form voltron
  • You mess, All the fish wey dey River Niger say, Are we save?
  • You mess, Obasanjo repeat primary one
  • You mess, puff puff wear pant
  • With your black black nyash like devils bible
  • You shit here, you shit there you dey find the L.C.M
  • With your tun tun belle like seven o’clock news
  • As you short you dey use ladder climb maggi.
  • You no tall, you no short, you just be like headmaster biro
  • As u fool reach, u enter office were A/C dey, u come dey halla say na here harmattan dey hide?
  • With your ben ben leg like bendel state.

Some memory eh

Sharing Donut Stories

I have a Love-Hate relationship with donuts, once upon a time, I ate so many I stopped eating donuts for close to four years, only recently had some, It can be nice. But would I encourage people to eat donuts? hmm I don't think so, I don't think I would be sharing them either...

I remember someone asking me why we need to preach to people and share the gospel. Even as a kid, admittedly while I enjoyed all the activities we had growing up as 'Christian' (eating donuts!) I didn't understand most of the bible, or the crux of it. But I never had doubts as to why we had to tell others about the Gospel. It is something we do all the time, in many aspects of our lives, so why would this be different. People have no trouble telling their friends about the Sales that are going on on the High street, especially when the friend didn't even ask. You just got a job, you are happy, you will tell people. It is as simple as that. If there is going to be a disaster in the house that you know about, you would definitely tell everyone in it to leave even though they don't see it coming, it's as urgent as that. If your father tells you, My dear don't forget to give your siblings the gift I brought before I come back, It is as direct as that...You would definitely do it too, if you love and trust your Father.

I really love this Donut Hole video we had as kids, I had the urge to see it recently and I googled it up, and Voila! Unknowingly it did teach me alot, plus we had good times acting out most of the scenes. Brings some tears to my eyes...we'd put a doll in a basket, tie ropes, stand upstairs and lower the basket down just like they did. Good times, I say!

Watching it again, it presses further the importance of Sharing the 'Good News', How barriers are broken down through Jesus. How EVERYBODY regardless of race, colour, gender, sexuality and all the barriers that man loves to put up is important, equal and above all Loved by God. All you have to do is to trust God and yes, that's the message of the Bible, 'I LOVE YOU, TRUST ME' God tells us. Why shouldn't I share this truth with people? infact it would be irrational not to tell everyone. Gonna share it all! because everyone without God is like a Donut with a hole right there in the middle.

Enjoy the Videos! Happy Children's Day!

An Elephant Flying??

This is how I feel about the current Nigerian elections, there are things that are just impossible, and hey I am not surprised.

More importantly I got to watch Dumbo again!! oh my days! we had the tape when I was much younger so this was a frequent watch for a long while. I love love it. I still shed tears watching it again. But I realised so much now that I am older. I think as a kid one was more concerned about the excitement, the colours, the fun..I mean I am still concerned about that, but more than anything truths from the movie began to jump out at me. One thing I also noticed was how short it was! as a kid, it never seemed so! lol. But It was great re-living those moments in my life that I wouldn't change. If I do have kids, I hope I'd be able to get them to watch it ^_^

I love this song, it makes me chuckle with delight!

My CNN Days

I remember those days when we had just moved to the new Duplex, right in front of the hills. The area was still 'new' if you compared it to the rest of the city. We were surrounded by vegetation, my dad even carved a small garden out, Paw Paw trees, Orange and Guava ruled. Oh did I hate Paw Paw!, I still hate it. As young children, there wasn't much we could do in the area. Unlike the old quarters were we lived which had accessible hills, the ones here were close but unreachable. I had also just begun secondary school, I wanted to do new things.

We had a load of tapes of our favorite cartoons from way back, and we played them to the death. Soon, Cable was installed, but it wasn't stable. Some days all we had were news stations and some others which were straight from the Middle-East. Grudgingly, we had to watch CNN, Fox News, SKY, BBC back to back, if there was no tape or movie to see.

CNN was my favourite, it seemed to offer more of a variety of programmes, and I loved the way they spoke. I would pick up a newspaper and pretend to read like the newscasters, this was always a hit at school. I played with the idea of becoming one, fantasy!

Summer Holidays, were the longest and I would come home straight from school, It typically lasted from about the end of June to the start of September. I usually resumed late, so make that the end of September!, two weeks less resumption never really hurt! lol. It was during this periods from '96 to '01 that I formed strong bonds with Christiana Amanpour, Wolf Blitzer, Fionnuala Sweeney, Jim Clancy, Terry Baddoo, Rosemary Church, Ralitsa Vassileva, jeff koinange, Femi Oke, Jonathan Mann, Larry King. I watched everything from World News to Sports, Entertainment and Technology programmes. I even memorized the schedule at some point.

I was glad to have CNN to watch, it kept me well informed amongst my peers, I'd always been one step ahead anyways. It was no coincidence that some of the events that shaped the world, I saw unravel first hand.

Summer of '97 Princess Diana's death, We had played games till late but had to sleep because the next day was sunday, and we had to go to church. But for me, I couldn't sleep for a while so I got up and went to check what was on. 'Princess Diana, Car crashed!' Oh my days! I couldn't believe it as I saw the mangled car. Unbelievable!

'98 - '99 The next major event was Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky affair, which I followed closely. I will never forget Bill's speech 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman' even I knew He was lying.

Summer of '99, JFK jr's plane went down. I had only watched them hours ago, and now the plane was missing. I had thought of how stylish Carolyn, his wife was. And what a nice couple they seemed to be. Sad.

Summer of '01 Aaliyah was dead! In a car crash and a day before my birthday, Who didn't know Aaliyah, wow! terrible. She was 22, I was going to be 15.

Summer/Fall of '01 9/11 as it is remembered, I was just changing channels, because it seemed like a slow news day, nothing was happening. Next thing I got to BBC and saw one of the WTC towers smoking, I was just thinking how unfortunate, the plane slamming into the tower, and it was Live with the cameras pointed on the building. Next thing I knew another plane just slams into the next, OH MY GOD the video man screamed and the video became shaky with people running towards and away from the building. I was doubly stunned. Oh my God! I thought is this a movie, is this real??

Soon after, a couple of things changed in the house, I was graduating from secondary school and getting into University the next year. I can't remember what happened to the cable, but it lost an appeal. Given the current events in the world, I found myself getting back into that frame of mind, until someone brings me back to reality with 'Let's watch something else o!' Despite all that, those days were filled with happiness, sadness, gladness, things of a kind I would never forget. I miss my CNN Days.

Our House, The Hotel.

'You have to sleep in the other room' these were familiar words we grew up with. Most times, the 'other room'  was the living room. There was a hardly a time, where we lived in our house, as a nuclear family, alone. For as long as I can remember there were always people, relatives, helps, uncles, cousins..and so on, living with us.and the random..well not totally random stranger who my parents..usually one of them at a time, decided to help.

The First Hotel was a three bedroom 'government' apartment in V.I, which had two floors, a living room and a 'make-shift' lobby/childrens room on the top floor. For the period we lived here, I can't remember us being asked to sleep elsewhere but we had auntys and 'helps' with us. I still have pictures from my 1st year brtday which i vaguely remember.(Believe it or not! lol) Some vivid memories like when one of our Auntys..my mums younger sister. punished me for something I really can't remember. She asked me to drink about 10 bottles of water, the bottles were glass and had different colours. One of my chores then as a Nursery school student was to fill the bottles and put in the fridge. When I was asked to kneel and drink the water, I thought it was a piece of cake, But on the second bottle, my tummy had swollen, it was like I had kwashiokor. I begged for mercy.

The Second  Hotel, tucked away in an 'Estate' on the Mainland, what comes to mind is the Nigerian remix of the song 'Umbrella' It was a four bedroom flat with just a little living room, I remember spending some nights sprawled on the couch here. In the 3-year period we lived there, We had our Grandma who had one room solely to herself, she also took care of my little sister, My aunt was there too. A male relative ('Uncle') who constantly had some issues with my older sisters shared a room with my brother who was at Uni then and usually came every now and then. Life here was dogged by NEPA-less nights, mosquitos, Borehole issues and what not. It was a great time though my 'coming-of-age'

The Third Hotel, All the way in the capital city of Abuja. This was by far the most spacious house, and is basically GRAND compared to all the others. I honestly cannot even give a number of the people who have passed through this hotel. It was in this house, my sisters and I thought about it and said Honestly, this is *insert surname* Hotel. The house has Five bedrooms and a 'Boys-quarter' But i have spent a lot of time in the sitting room (Luckily there were two of them). There have been diffrent kinds of people here (The good, the bad, the witch, Beauty and the Ugly), but the only time I remember my mum complain was when she said of a relative who had spent about two years and was working 'Common toothpaste, he cannot even buy!' and she spoke of a female 'Who does she expect to wash her plates??' Other than that, Its been a free for all. as long as you weren't lazy, lying, stealing or being a 'principality'

As kids, to us it was just fun and games, As teenagers we didnt find it funny a lot of times. But as we began to grow older. Certain things began to click..Well for me, it did. I have had to spend time in other people's homes, over the course of my education. While we lived in Abuja, I was still at boarding school in Lagos. But during Mid-term breaks, There was no way I was going to Abuja for the three to four days it was, so I had to put up with Family-Friends and Relatives...I have experienced good and very bad times, but not as bad as my friend in the same plight who got molested by a relative who was even a Pastor...

Even right now, I have been staying with my 'Aunt' and 'Uncle' who are the nicest people ever, for the past one month. My Uncle once said 'Staying with people is probably one of the most difficult things to do' My friends have really bad narrations of their ordeals staying with people and it is just a sad cycle. It always pays to treat people with decency and dignity, respect others as Human beings. You don't know where you or yours would end up tomorrow. Treat people the way, you would like to be treated. These are some of the things I have learnt from these episodes of my life.

The Nigerian Dream

It was 1992, the first time in Abuja. We went to spend Summer Holidays with our Dad. My mum, sisters and I boarded Nigerian Airways and made the 50mins journey to the capital city. It was an amazing experience. My dad had gone out of his way to make this holiday special for us. He came to pick us from the airport and drove us straight to Agura Hotel. We were all amazed at how smooth the roads were, and how new the buildings seemed. This is like London, my sister quipped several times. At the hotel, we had a FEAST in every sense of the word, all manners of food and drink, I really couldn't love my dad more at that point. But alas due to my stomach sensitivity I was visiting the toilet in no time. If we go by first impressions, Abuja was a pretty awesome place to be.

When we got settled into the house my Dad had been living in at the OAU Quarters, a nice cosy three bedroom apartment, my sisters and I wasted no time exploring within and without. We spent the mornings watching our favorite Christian musical and the afternoons exploring the nearby hills. Abuja was indeed something the whole of Nigeria could aspire to be like. Back in Lagos where we live, NEPA was the main hindrance to our fun, but here we could watch our movies all day with no fear of the power being cut, and when it did, in a minute we could cheekily call NEPA and have the power restored in seconds. Bliss!!

Night-time was equally splendid. After our usual cups of Nescao, we would get on our cosy bed. The weather was usually cool that time of the year, so we would pretend we were 'Abroad'. Tell ourselves stories and sleep off when we were exhausted. One of such nights, I had the dream. I remember the shades of blue duvet I had. It always made it seem my dreams were bathed in a light blue glow.

Waking up, I glanced around, and stretched while I sat there on my bed. My room was large and I was alone. The sun streamed in through large glass windows which the whole house was covered with. This seemed like straight out of the Jetsons. I got off my bed and pressed a button, my night wear was taken off and dumped into the bin which sends dirty cloths to the laundry. My dressing gown came on. Food! I thought, I went to the panel and pressed a button. An array of breakfast came sliding towards me, as I lay back on my 'La-z-boy' type chair and proceeded to dig into the food. All in my mind was, This is the Life!

Who Remembers?

''Sunlight, pure sunlight in water', pure sunlight in waaater,
is all that you need.
Long-lasting sunlight, fresh as the morning, take care of your family,
with pure sunlight in water''

I was doing the dishes today and I remembered, I'm not sure if these are the real words though.lol.

Unforgettable

I love descriptive novels, because it makes me escape into the writing even more. Its usually like I am watching a video in my head.

I read this book when I was about 10,11 I think. Yeah, I read lots of books that age, I really had no business reading. But I loved this book.

I have always been intrigued by America's history and everything that surrounds it. The ins and outs of the people, how much they were interwoven. The story deals with several families living in the Chesapeake Bay area, from 1583 to 1978. A large book.

There is so much I could speak about, but the setting in Chesapeake bay was so descriptive, I had dreams of living in that time, I got my atlas ..(no google maps then) Looked for the location and began to just envision all I was reading. It was an amazing book to read.

I experienced a wide range of emotions, happiness, laughter, I cried sometimes. It covered a whole range of topics as humanity allows, but I understood it all.

I want to read this book again.

Hot Chicks and Electric Pianos

What more do ya want?

What I'd Say to My 16-Year-Old Self

Little girl in a park near Union Station, Washington, D.C. (LOC)

I would tell her 'read more, follow your heart and the things YOU what to do. Don't allow anyone use their 'money' or influence as an edge over you'

Study Well!

Eat Well!

Use Sunscreen.

There's much more I could say, but yeah this lot would go a long way :)

Shedding Tears

I went to celebrate with my friend over her recent DR. status. Just before the party commenced, I saw her younger siblings running around, playing peekaboo. I just smiled and thought about how happy and carefree they were, how life used to be..next thing I knew I started crying. Ran to the bathroom to get a grip of myself.

The act of crying has been defined as "a complex secretomotor phenomenon characterized by the shedding of tears from the lacrimal apparatus, without any irritation of the ocular structures"

I stared at myself in the mirror and asked what these tears were for. Tears of joy? Tears of sadness? I honestly couldn't place it. But I was so emotional. I didn't have the best childhood possible but it was just the times of innocence that can never be gotten back. I stood there thinking, life has just gone and passed, passed, passed.

Anyways, when I managed to get a grip of myself, and got out. Met some women who had arrived, they encouraged me to sit outside and get some air, got talking..and just relieved myself. Only to hear that a 27 yr old lady had lost her husband of same age to some disease. I had no more tears but kept of thinking about how this life is. I had so many different emotions running through me at the moment, what to do?, what to do?, what to do? Live in the moment. I thought about how rough my week had been 'Live in the moment' With a much needed sigh, I abandoned the fresh air and went in to party.

Crying is indeed Therapeutic

Ye are Gods!

I woke up this morning feeling like playing Black & White

Its a PC game, so many Video-game type jocks, won't like it. Its the closest feeling i got when i was 16 to being a god , pun intended! yes go pun!
You had the choice to be a good or bad god. Depends on your overall strategy, plus you had to keep in mind, you werent the only god in town.

I was bad at first, but i did some good deeds. I dropped people in the oceans, sent my minions to terrorize them.....kinda evil...woulda worked, but i felt 'bad'. Hearing their tiny cries 'We need food' 'We need offsprings' 'Help! my brother is lost at sea'

I saw how long they prayed at my altar for miracles.....i became a good god!! I was so fricking good, they began to take me for granted, my altars were abandoned, they ignored my minions, they didnt 'wow' at my miracles

Pretty ungrateful people! i had to sir things up.............then my PC crashed. >.<
All my hard work...Since then i havent had the opportunity to play the game, and my current PC just wouldnt do. If i manage to get a new PC asap, i would install it right after Alpha Centauri... #gamesthatchangedmylife

Thats how the desktop saved my life...

I've got lots on my mind, so much that i cant think straight , I can't do my coursework, but the strange thing is, I dont know why exactly my mind seems foggy, but i sure know one thing, theres something about a desktop that makes you wanna work!

Yay, i got to eat real pounded yam today, but the ogbono soup could have been better, yum! i'm never touching chinese food again. i should really stick to my no-fry rule. Any food i don't cook myself and aint fried, me no eat!

Holiday

I feel like i wasted my holiday, kinda, its been great having to not think of school work, but i'm still mighty pissed i didnt get to go down to the beach, >_<. I may be travelling again tomorrow to the midlands, but here i am asking myself, why do i really want to go, i want to see the town, yeah, hang out with friends, i hope signals arent being miscommunicated here though. On thursday i've been invited to a graduation party, that should be fun, next week it all ends, going back home to Arthur.

Questions

I get asked a lot of strange questions and i wonder if i should leave the recent one to a post on its own, i probably should but it is about my sexual orientation, imagine! lol.
Another question also spurred the thoughts in my mind, the only two kinds of people i want in my life, Honest and Unpretentious. I'm done with smarm.

Movies

Watched Jaws again today, lots of memories in that one and the unforgettable theme score, doom doom doom!. Also, caught up on Curious George two, too cute! love that monkey! Last but really touching was Sex and the City, i swear the number of times this movie has evaded me is legendary! i wasnt too surprised tat the plot but it still got me emotional. I'm such a romantic it kills me! but theres nothing like being happy and making someone happy..*sigh* oo! imperfect world!

Upcoming...

I'm pretty dissapointed in myself at this point, i couldn't submit the proposal anymore, i froze. i couldnt send it. i guess thats one thing fogging my mind up, there were too many questions, i couldnt draw myself to one point. i was also sort of ill on saturday, yeah it got me down. I feel i'm dissappointing not just me. i need to step up on a lot of things. I have one more week to get things straight before going home.

I am absolutely in love with Dagny Taggart, 100%. i want to get things done like she did, i know..kinda crazy, but i feel myself  there..

Conclusion of the week, Everyone is corrupted

O Fortuna

Ok, So between Saturday and now, i failed in my task to make soup! aaah. And theres no chance now cause I go on hols from Friday. oh well!!. I've been busy making plans for my holiday, I don't want to exceed two weeks, the work i have to do is MASSIVE. but i want to relax too, Moving a lot around the south end, should be fun!

On Sunday, forgot a document for my CRB check (enrolled to help in a creche) so i had to go for the evening service in church. While I was feeling good with myself through out the day, cause I looked 'Trendy'. The evening sermon which was 'Healing Life's hurt' began to bring about memories, some good some bad.

ooh the good times, going for fellowship at Transit Village, watching and dancing to Colby's treehouse, Kids Praise and the donut man, I recently dug these up on Youtube and it made me wanna cry. Also when we were younger my sisters would say i was the ugly one. I took it in stride, i dont really know how it affected me, but being told your the ugly one could never have good feelings come with it. Still i believe things like this helped me shape ideas about myself from a very early age. It didnt matter if i was the 'ugly' one, someone had to be.lol.

Anyway, i look back and only laugh, we were kids. Experiences can make you Bitter or Better, make your choice. Ive made mine ^_^

Meanwhile apart from my 'loc-ed guy obssession' of which I actually saw two guys in one day who totally rocked my boat, both dark skinned, one had long locs but he had a kid with him, DAMM! lol, the second one was in passing, he had 'cornrows' fine boi..:(

My latest obsession is O Fortuna by Carl Orff. It is very popular but I didn't know who the composer was until recently, and I cant stop playing it....it speaks volumes to me...

O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.

Sors immanis
et inanis,
rota tu volubilis,
status malus,
vana salus
semper dissolubilis,
obumbrata
et velata
michi quoque niteris;
nunc per ludum
dorsum nudum
fero tui sceleris.

Sors salutis
et virtutis
michi nunc contraria,
est affectus
et defectus
semper in angaria.
Hac in hora
sine mora
corde pulsum tangite;
quod per sortem
sternit fortem,
mecum omnes plangite!

English Version

O Fortune,
just as the moon
Stands constantly changing,
always increasing
or decreasing;
Detestable life
now difficult
and then easy
Deceptive sharp mind;
poverty
power
it melts them like ice.

Fate—monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
stand malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game,
my bare back
I bring to your villainy.

Fate, in health
and in virtue,
is now against me
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
So at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating string;
since through Fate
strikes down the strong,
everyone weep with me!

Cigarettes, Sugar and Nice things.

I have a Love-Hate relationship with the smell of cigarettes. I was sitting in the studio one morning this week and someone had opened the windows because the studio was getting too warm and was quite disturbing. But as fresh air flowed in, the smell of cigarette wafted in, i am certain it was moisture in the air and the smell that triggered my memories. Water + Cigerette always triggers childhood memories, splashing in the pool at the Apapa Club, having suya and just precious pure fun times. amazing. Really really sad i can't bring those times back again.

Funny, as i went along the day, different things began to trigger memories, I was cooking and as i opened the Maggi cubes, The days of Chocomilo and Picnics on 1004 grounds, began to swirl in my mind. they don't say 'the good old days' for nothing.

I was trying to make a cuppa too, and realized the days of my sugar had come to an end...ok, St Louis cubed sugar is triggered and brings along memories of days in 1004, putting cubes in 'Ogi' lol. good times!

Yesterday,
The day before one of my coursemates had asked me why we 'black' girls like to 'tie' our hair. He meant plait or twist, i tried to explain though, but i untwisted my hair, and had this massive fro which i walked around the streets of Tyne land with. Anyways, that led to one of my teammates saying, Your hair is massive! which led to discussion about hair and childhood haircuts. I was in stitches as i told them the story of how i tried to change this (for example)

To this,

When i was in secondary school and i was on low cut, i walked around with my eyes facing the sky, HILARIOUS!

Aah, it was a pretty good week, still on the search for jobs and ish, stabbed Gidi Night at the Empress today, Got my test results yesterday and its all good, nothing is wrong with me! yay!

Other things!

Housemate offered me a ride to Birmingham, yay!

Main Goal for this weekend, Make Soup!

Complete Research proposal

Oh yeah i'm TOTALLY Obsessed  ^_^

But, have you seen a finer guy!

I miss Thunderstorms

I really do miss thunderstorms and lightenings. I remember thinking about this when I was getting drenched in the rain on sunday. My housemate and I talked about the 'African Rain' lol. I began to reminsice about times it really showed me pepper, but the feeling that comes after..... when you have fresh warm dry clothes on, in a warm house, curtains drawn, pepper soup in hand, movie on the telly and the rain, lightening and thunder keeps banging on like theres no tommorrow..some kind of bliss, I swear.

Anyhoo, still felt quite ill today, but I had to make it down to attend a lecture by Prof Irini Pitsaki on 'Cultural Product design' after she gave the lecture and questions were being asked, I felt compelled to challenge some of her points which I did, but then felt sorry i did :(. anyway, got chatting with her after the lecture as people filed out. I will be having more talks with her, and over coffee ;D

Went on my Blast from the Past spree again, watched 'High school High' fricking funny! and 'My stepmother is an alien' omg, seeing all those people again in their 'Young' state. still very funny, and it did take me back...wayyy back, i was like ''see graphics eeeh'' lol.

Had a nice chat with my housemate, its so inevitable that our talks always goes back to 'Africa' from make-up to Africa.lol Mount Kilimanjaro and lions and zulu music.lol. good fun. Atleast I still have one housmate with a good head on good shoulders.lol.

umm, i was gonna start a header with the topic 'Things I saw on the metro today' still trying to sort out my phone 'camera connection to pc' issues. be right back on that.

For now, gotta sign out, no couch sleeping for me today, gotta be up sharp by 8am max. :D

Happy Belated St. Pats, no Guinness this time!

Is it strange that the Tyneside Irish center is in Chinatown, or is it just me?!?!

CNT

Woke up yesterday and just couldn't move, pretty important day at school and my legs gave out. I had a massive headache to boot, pretty shitty start to my day. Went back to sleep and finally made a way out by 12pm. I've had this numbness in my legs on and off, i just hope the blood test doesn't return anything scary. I really hate not being where i ought to be, even if it turns into a waste of time, my day was pretty much mapped out before i went to bed. And then things didn't go as planned, a real bummer.
Anyways *Sigh*
I went to get some dairy products, then tried to look for the Indian vermicelli (Kheer), no shop around had it and i had to settle for some over sweet 'thing', never again!

Blast from the past

Once upon a time not too distant in the past, was a guy i liked. He disappointed me a number of times, not intentional i reckon, still it wasn't a good look. He 'disappears', for well a long time and then he showed up yesterday. Said he was sorry and all. Good good, happy new year.

Also! i watched Splash!! Tom Hanks looked so cuuute.lol, I cant believe people thought Daryl Hannah was that beautiful, and then Eugene Levy...lololol. Good fun i tell ya.

Is my Mercury in retrograde? Have i lost my "Mojo"??

The past two weeks have been very nostalgic for me, i remembered all sorts! when life was all about eating, playing and Disney cartoons. I got to watch Aladdin again after about ten years..woww, the memories! and i even got more excited when i saw on twitter some days later that it was a trending topic, apparently it was showing on HBO in the United States at that moment, and lots of people were carried away like i had been and in the words of one of them "they just dont make them like that anymore and thats sad" i agree! after that i played all the disney songs i had all my computer, even music from Annie. oooh i loved that night!

Well i said all that to get to this, some days ago still in the Nostalgic air, i ran the Snes Emulator on my PC ( i have over a 100 ROMs) picked Aladdin. I'm ashamed to say it was a struggle playing it, i couldnt get past the beginning in the Cave of wonders! WHAT!? A gamer like me, aaah!!. I then picked Super Mario World and there i got stuck at Donut Plains 1, i always got hit by the flying Koopas or the baseball dude, i couldnt believe this, and i started to wonder. Have i really lost it. .have i now crossed the river styx of gaming, have i been banished from Gamers Paradise :(

hehe, i may be over reacting, but from one who prides herself to be a gamer, omo no be small things o, i just downloaded Mario Kart ROM, im going to "TAN" that one now, i must still have IT somewhere now, barrack come barrack go, Soldier remain....lol

The Really Massive Final Post of 2008

Why i blog, write...i was telling a friend yesterday, i just have to, i have tiny notes scribbled everywhere, in school, it was my lectures notes, in church, my sermon notes because im a very good drifter, i have scribbled on money, clothing, tissue paper, the wall but now i make a lot of notes on my fone. words are just some of my very good friends, but dont get me started on Drawing, lines and figures.....

So, 2008 is almost done eh, so much stuff that happened inbetween, a very eventful year I must say, marriages here and there, graduations, nysc palava, lol mehn , its been one heck of a ride, and ofcourse, sad events woven into the tapestry, life we cannot avoid,

The Rape issue, I actually met the girl while in lagos just before I was called to serve, she was not the picture I had in my mind, she was an ordinary looking dark girl, who was even thinner than I am, shorter too. She was talking with my cousin and until my cousin told me, she was the girl involved in the ordeal, I would have had a better chance of finding gold in my nose than guessing who she was. She was so bouncy, cheerful, she even helped my cousin make lunch. I could only hope that she carries on with life as normal as possible, even in the face of that traumatic experience and as a new year approaches, one cant even imagine what may be going through her mind. I wish her ALL the best, every single one my being can muster.

NYSC;

so i finally relocated to Abuja, and im billed to start work at the National Assembly next year, hmm, im just gonna see how this one goes..i know im the last person to be recommended for civil service/ government work!

I made a couple of new, cool friends and im still boxing my old, cold ones about the ears.lol, you guys are just tooo mush, and especially to my “im very fond of you” friend, who says Fond, these days??? even though we had a mini-argument on christmas/boxing day, we are still tight.

Ya know, as the year slowly drew to an end, i had this nostalgic wave come over me, i remembered a lot of how things were back then, highly influenced by the 80s, teened in the 90s, adultized in the 00s, its been a wonderful journey, they say time changes yesterday but they forget to see that Yesterday also changes the times.i ought to do a seperate post on my Nostalgia but i had to get in this post for the year.

all in all, i can say i am satisfied with this year, i achieved something major and im so happy about it.
